Denodo Consumers - Installing the ODBC Driver

The Denodo Platform provides an ODBC driver for Windows, which is based on the ODBC PostgreSQL driver. To connect to Denodo from an ODBC application, follow these steps in the machine where the client application runs.
  1. Log into the Denodo Solution Manager.
  2. Click Help.
  3. Select About Solution Manager.
    1. Note the date in the line that reads Solution Manager update.
  4. Go to the Denodo Community ODBC Drivers page.
  5. Download the ODBC driver for Windows zip file for the update that matches the date from Solution Manager.
  6. Extract the contents of this file.
  7. Open the msi folder.
  8. Install both the DenodoODBC_x86.msi file (for 32-bit apps like Excel) and the DenodoODBC_x64.msi file (for 64-bit apps).

Setting Up 64-Bit and 32-Bit DSNs

  1. Open Control Panel.
  2. Select Administrative Tools.
  3. Open the ODBC Data Source Administrator (64-bit) application.
  4. In the User DSN tab, select Add.
  5. Select the DenodoODBC Unicode option.
  6. Click Finish.
  7. In the Setup window, fill in the following info:
    1. Data Source: Enter DenodoODBC_64
    2. Description: Enter a description (example: Denodo Virtual DataPort server)
    3. Database: Enter the name of the VDB in Denodo, followed by ?queryTimeout=0 (example: doc_vdb?queryTimeout=0)
      1. Note: the ?queryTimeout=0 part will allow large datasets to load for longer then the default 15 minutes.
    4. Server:
      1. For Production, enter datahub.uillinois.edu
      2. For QA, enter qa.datahub.uillinois.edu
      3. For Dev, enter dev.datahub.uillinois.edu
    5. Port: Enter 9996
    6. User Name: Enter your NetID
    7. Password: Enter your AD password
  8. Click Test to test the connection.
  9. If successful, click Save.
  10. Repeat these steps using the ODBC Data Source Administrator (32-bit) application to create a 32-bit DSN.
