ICS, Software Installation Policy for ICS-Supported Labs and Illinois AnyWare
You can view the current list of available software here: http://go.illinois.edu/TechSvcLabSoftware
Requesting Additional Software
If a University of Illinois academic course requires software not included in the standard suite, the requesting department or college must provide the following:
- A valid software license
- Licensing information, including any required activation keys or credentials
- Installation media (e.g., CD, DVD, or secure download link)
Lead Time & Testing Requirements
- Two weeks is required for new software installations. This ensures proper integration and testing for compatibility with existing systems.
- Instructors must test the requested software in the designated lab or virtual environment at least three (3) business days before the first scheduled class session.
- ICS does not provide comprehensive support for non-standard software unless prior arrangements have been made.
Availability
Software is only guaranteed to be available for the semester in which it is requested. ICS staff reserve the right to remove any non-standard software between semesters to maintain a functional, reliable computing environment for instructional use.
Instructional Use Only
ICS-supported labs and systems are provided as an instructional resource. Due to the terms of our software license agreements and the instructional funding that supports ICS resources, ICS computers may not be used for non-academic purposes.
