Can I use a Respondus with a Chromebook?

If you have an ACCC managed Chromebook, you will be able to access and use LockDown Browser. Currently, only LockDown Browser work and not Respondus Monitor.

NOTE: If you were not issued a Chromebook from ACCC's loan program you will not be able to use LockDown Browser at this time. Respondus is actively working to add compatibility and has stated a resolution should be available sometime in fall 2020.

To access LockDown Browser on an ACCC-managed Chromebook, follow these steps:

1. Click on Apps and select LockDown Browser

respondus app

2. On the following screen, type University of Illinois at Chicago as the name of your institution. This step only needs to be completed during your initial login to LockDown Browser. You will not need to enter this information again after your initial login to LockDown Browser.

Institution name

3. Navigate to your course in Blackboard, like you regularly do. Note that the Chromebook will be in kiosk mode while using LockDown Browser.

4. When you are finished using LockDown Browser, exit kiosk mode by pressing the power button on the keyboard of your Chromebook and select either Sign Out or Power Off
