Can I request an extension of access to ACCC services?
Explains how someone can request an extension of ACCC sevices
In order to retain your access to UIC computing resources, students must be registered for classes.
PhD students working on their theses can register for 0 credit hours to have continued access to email accounts and UIC computing resources. Alternating registered semesters with off-semesters (i.e. registering every other semester) is usually sufficient to prevent ACCC computer accounts from expiring. The account status is automatically updated when registration data is loaded, and automatically marked to expire during a semester when there is no apparent registration data (the expiration date will be set for the beginning of the following semester, allowing a one-semester grace period before expiration).
Masters students finishing a masters thesis or project or PhD students making post-defense revisions to a doctoral thesis who require account access beyond the one-semester grace period may have the director of their department's graduate program send mail to firstname.lastname@example.org, confirming that the student is finishing a thesis or project for their degree and stating until which date account access will be required.
