How do I create a Blackboard account for an external (non-UIC) user?

Anyone affiliated with the University of Illinois at Chicago and having an activated UIC NetID will automatically have a blackboard account.

If you need to have an account created for an external user (someone not affiliated with the University) you will need to first request an account be created for the external user and then you will need to add the new user to the course  in Blackboard you want them to have access.

  1. To create the external affiliate account follow these instructions: How can I request an account for a service provider or an external affiliate?
  2. To add the user to the Blackboard course follow these steps: https://help.blackboard.com/Learn/Administrator/SaaS/Courses/Enroll_Users
For trouble logging into Blackboard, please visit one of the C-Stop consultants (available in any of the public computer labs on campus) - they have the ability to troubleshoot your common password related issues and assist you in logging in to the system. For campus C-Stop locations click here.

If you are having problems following the process please contact us by sending an email to LTS@uic.edu.
