General Information

In Fall 2024, Adobe released Creative Cloud 2025, which continues support for the Named User (NUL) and Shared Device (SDL) license models. The Jamf Pro service offers Named User versions of Creative Cloud 2025 titles, along with a separate Shared Device License package.

Notes

  • All Jamf Pro-provided Creative Cloud packages include the Creative Cloud Desktop Application
  • Adobe CC 2025 application installers enforce hardware requirements
  • Adobe Lightroom CC is not available under the Shared Device license, although Adobe Lightroom Classic is.
  • Some Adobe apps do not have 2025 releases but are still updated (e.g., Dreamweaver)

This article relates specifically to Jamf Pro packages and deployment. For the most current details about Creative Cloud Named User and Shared Device licensing and activation, please read the UofI Webstore's KB article

Acrobat DC / Reader DC

Acrobat Pro DC also uses the new licensing model and is available as a Jamf Mac App Catalog app. Both Adobe Acrobat DC Continuous and Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Continuous are automatically available as an on-demand installation for users via the Self Service+ app on any Jamf Pro enrolled computers. For automatic installs, IT pros should create a site-level Jamf Mac App Catalog deployment.

Named User License

All Adobe Creative Cloud applications leveraging the Named User license are automatically available as an on-demand installation for users via the Self Service+ app on any Jamf Pro enrolled computers. For automatic installs, IT pros should create a site-level Jamf Mac App Catalog deployment.

Shared Device License

The Adobe Creative Cloud Shared Device license is installed as a separate package that is installed over the top of a Named User license installation. It is automatically available as an on-demand installation for users via the Self Service+ app on any Jamf Pro enrolled computers assigned a "- Shared Device" PreStage DEP enrollment profile. If there is a need to make it available for computers assigned a "- Migrated" or "- Named User" PreStage DEP enrollment profile, IT pros should contact the Endpoint Services team and provide a site-level Computer Group containing the desired target computers.

For automatic installs, IT pros should deploy a site-level policy to deploy the Adobe CC Shared Device license. The "EPS - Adobe SDL license" policy at the global (Full Jamf Pro) site can be used as a model. This method calls the "Global - Adobe Shared Device license (SDL) Activation" policy custom event trigger to install the latest SDL package.

Installation with Previous Versions

Installation of EPS-provided Creative Cloud packages will generally behave as expected in terms of interactions with previous versions, with a handful of exceptions for the Jamf Pro service.

Jamf Pro-provided packages will allow side-by-side installations with previous versions with the exception of the below titles that do not adhere to an annual release cadence. These will all overwrite previously installed versions.:

  • Acrobat DC
  • Dimension
  • Lightroom
  • Lightroom Classic
  • Premiere Rush
  • Substance 3D Designer/Painter/Sampler/Stager
  • XD
