Campus Wi-Fi, Wireless Routers Not Allowed in Residence Halls
The campus wireless networks (IllinoisNet, IllinoisNet_Guest, and eduroam) are available for use, and wired ethernet connections are available in most residence hall rooms, but residents should not set up their own routers or hotspots using these. Unmanaged ethernet switches that do not broadcast a wireless signal are allowed (though this would be rare to encounter).
University Housing's Residential Technology group has more information about the networks in the residence halls on their website: Technology Help | University Housing
Residential Technology can be contacted by submitting the University Housing Residential Technology Form or by calling 217-244-1111.
Please note that some exceptions apply for the graduate student housing at Goodwin-Green, Ashton Woods, and Orchard Downs.
