Chrome (Mac) - Enable or Disable the Pop-Up Blocker

This document explains how to enable and disable Chrome's pop-up blocker.

  1. Open Chrome.
  2. Open Tools (the icon represented by three vertical dots) in the upper right corner.
  3. From the menu that appears, select Settings.
  4. Select the Privacy and Security option from the left-hand pane.
  5. Then click Site Settings (located under the Privacy and security section, as shown in the example image below).

  6. Locate the Content subsection, and click on Pop-ups and redirects.

  7. Enable or disable the pop-up blocker by toggling the switch next to Blocked (recommended). The toggle will be grey if the blocker is not turned on.

  8. Additionally, if you wish to make exceptions for certain websites, you can specify which sites or pages should  be blocked from opening or allowed to open pop-up windows by clicking the Add buttons located to the right of the Block or Allow sections, respectively.
  9. From the small window that appears, you can then add sites to either block or allow (see the image below for a visual example).

  10. Exit all windows once finished.
