University Bursar - How can I add or update my social security number with the University?
You will need to complete the following:
Download the W-9S form from the IRS website below.
Complete form W-9S.
Save or print the form.
Submit the form, following the instructions for your University below.
Please Note: If you are considered a nonresident alien for US tax purposes on an F, J, or B visa, you are not eligible for the US tax education tax benefits and do not need to submit the form W-9S.

- Log into My Illini - student.myillini.illinois.edu
- Select Your Profile
- Locate the section "Document Upload to Register"
- Browse out to select the completed W-9S file on your computer.
- Select "Upload File"
- Please email Registration@illinois.edu and include your UIN in the communication explaining the purpose of the uploaded form. The Registrar will use this email inquiry and UIN to notify you once the record has been updated.

Please mail, Fax or submit in person your completed W-9S form, including your student UIN in the Tuition Account Number field, to the Office of the Registrar:
