If you have purchased a Yubikey from Webstore or another vendor, please follow the instructions below:

If you need to purchase a Yubikey, please see Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), Yubikey, Purchase and Use

Registration must be completed via a Duo Universal Prompt when logging into myaccount.microsoft.com using your University's login credentials.

  1. Navigate to myaccount.microsoft.com using an Incognito or Private Browsing window so that you will be prompted by Duo (otherwise you may be automatically signed in).
From a Duo Universal Prompt, click on Other options then Manage devices.

       2.  After authenticating, you will be in the device management portal. Click on 'Add a device'.

       3. Click 'Security key' and the click 'Continue'.

       4. Follow the prompts from your browser and operating system for adding your security key. Ensure that your YubiKey remains plugged in throughout the process.

       5. Enter the PIN for your security key.

       6. Touch your security key for verification. You will need to put your finger over the Gold Circle with the "y" in the center.

      7. When you see the confirmation screen, your security key has been successfully registered. You will also be able to locate your Security Key as additional MFA method on the list of device management portal.

      8. Rename the Security key to your preference by clicking on 'Edit' and then 'Rename'.

Use

Your security key is now ready to use for authentication. When prompted, touch your security key to authenticate.
