ATLAS FormBuilder - Exporting Form Response Data as a Spreadsheet/Table

This tutorial explains how to use FormBuilder's reporting tools to export the response data of a form as an Excel spreadsheet or comma-separated text file (CSV).

Step 1 - Navigate to the dashboard of your form. Click Export Data within the "Response Data" panel to access your form's reporting page.

The dashboard of a form. The "Export Data" link within the "Reponse Data" panel is highlighted.

Step 2 - The page's Reports panel will contain any custom tabular reports you've created, as well as a default "Data Dump" report. The "Data Dump" provides the answer given to each of the form's questions, and a general overview of form response information. For more information on creating custom tabular reports for your form, visit FormBuilder - Manage Form Responses - How to Create/Edit Report.

Locate the report you'd like to use, and click its Run Report button to be brought to its options page.

The "Reports" page of a FormBuilder form. The "Run Report" button next to a listed report in the page's "Reports" panel is highlighted.

Step 3 - You will be presented with a variety of filtering options for the report. These include...
  • Period: Determines the period whose responses will be included in the report. If "– All Periods –" is selected, responses from all form periods will be included.
  • Phase: Determines the phase of the form whose associated responses will be included in the report. If "– All Phases –" is selected, responses in all form phases will be included.
  • Export File Type: Determines the file type of the report to be exported. "Excel Spreadsheet" will export an Excel spreadsheet of the .xlsx file type. "Comma Separated Text File" will export an Excel spreadsheet of the .csv file type.
  • Include All File Attachments As Separate Files: When selected, any files uploaded to the form via File Upload questions will be included alongside the report, packaged together in a .zip file.
  • Additional Filtering: Allows for conditional statements to be added to the filtering, which responses much meet in order to be included in the report. For more information on conditional statements in FormBuilder, visit ATLAS FormBuilder - Introduction to Conditional Statements.

After specifying your desired filtering, click the Download Report button to generate the report.
