AITS - Service Desk - International Travel - Preperation Guide
Collection of links and procedures to help faculty, staff, and students prepare for international travel.
Password
- Before traveling internationally it is recommended to check your password expiration. Visit and login to: https://identity.uillinois.edu
- If the password is set to expire while you are out of the country, it is recommended to change it before your departure.
Note to System Office Employees: If you change your password remember to perform a network logon to your University supplied machine.
2FA
- Before traveling internationally it is a good idea to add an international number to the list of your 2FA devices or ensure you have DUO Mobile installed and active on your current 2FA device. If you are unable to add an international number or install DUO Mobile, try using a Yubikey.
- Duo will check if your device is in a restricted country and block you if you try to use it. List of restricted countries maintained by DUO: help.duo.com/s/article/7544?language=en_US
VPN
- While traveling internationally make sure to connect to your campus or System Offices VPNs before accessing university resources. Not using VPN when trying to access university resources can result in an error or scrambling of your password.
