Windows 10 Version Check

You may need to know what version of Windows 10 your computer is running. The only versions of the Windows 10 operating system (OS) still supported and safe are 22H2 and 21H2. If you are experiencing unexpected symptoms with your Windows 10 computer and you suspect the OS is out of date, it may need an upgrade. Here are steps to check what version of the OS is running on your computer:

  1. Click in the desktop's search at the lower left of the screen, near the Windows logo.

  2. Type "winver" (without the quotes) and press Enter; this pop-up box appears:

  3. Note the version number, circled below:

IMPORTANT:
If the version does not say 22H2 or 21H2 the operating system is out of support (or soon will be), making the computer vulnerable. Please take action as soon as possible to get the operating system upgraded. For assistance, please email helpdesk@business.illinois.edu

If a "Feature Update" to "version 22H2" is not being offered in the Windows Update & Security console, you can also download and run the "Windows 10 Update Assistant" by following these instructions: https://answers.uillinois.edu/gies/page.php?id=116976.
