After joining Teams or Zoom meetings, the following images or messages may be familiar sights:

If your webcam is not detected in either Teams and Zoom, such as in the above images, one of the most common reasons for this is the built-in webcam shutter in Lenovo laptops.  When this shutter covers the webcam, the camera is disabled and turned off.

The following steps will enable the webcam on your Lenovo laptop and allow it to be detected by Teams and Zoom.

First, if you can see an orange, gray, or white dot then your laptop's webcam is currently covered by its shutter.

Next, identify the notch in the shutter's physical switch.

With a fingernail, or similar object, gently pull the switch to the right.

Once the switch is pulled back, the camera will be visible. 

Note: when you are in a meeting the camera will be visibly lit.
