Microsoft Teams, VITA Program, Call and Voicemail Settings for VITA phone accounts

Gies’ Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program utilizes phone accounts in Teams every tax season. Gies staff and students utilize these phone accounts to communicate with taxpayers in the community to complete various services as part of the VITA program. This article will show the default settings that each phone line will be set to during each tax season.

Note: IT Partners at Gies Help Desk staff will prepare each Teams phone account for the program before the tax season starts, but please refer to this article if phone settings need to be confirmed.

To access the settings to configure each phone account in Teams, select the three dots to the left of the Teams account you are logged into

Select "Settings" from the drop-down menu

Select the three dot icon, then select Settings.

Inside of "Settings" select "Calls"

Once Settings opens select Calls.

Locate the Call Handling and Forwarding settings and set the following values in the drop-downs that appear.

Set the values for each dropdown for call handling and forwarding calls.

Locate the Manage Voicemail settings and set the following values in the drop-downs that appear.

Set the values for each dropdown for managing voicemail.

These are the phone settings for each VITA Teams account that will remain in place until the end of the tax season.
