Editing profile information in Experts.Illinois from an LAS Framework department website

Brief introduction to editing profile information in LAS Framework websites

LAS Framework websites provide a simple way to maintain a profile page for each faculty and staff member in your department.  The source used for information is either Experts.Illinois (for tenure-program faculty members) or the Campus Directory for all other full-time staff.  These instructions guide you through editing your Illinois Campus Directory information.  If you are not a tenure-program faculty member, follow the Instructions for Campus Directory users.  Additional help can be found on the Illinois Experts websiteThose wanting to highlight particular publications should watch this video.

Website Profile Screen

  1. Start by going to your profile page on the department website.  This will typically be found by going to your website and looking in the Directory section.  
  2. Click your name to view your profile page. 
  3. Along the right side of the page, you will see a photo and possibly your contact information.
  4. Click the Edit Your Profile button directly beneath this information.
  5. You will now be on the Profile Editing screen on your website.
  6. On this page your can upload a CV Document and override information from Experts.Illinois.  Overrides are described at the bottom of this guide.

Experts.Illinois Users

  1. In the yellow box describing their directory source, you will see a link to Illinois Experts. Click this to update your directory information.
  2. Once you are logged into Experts.Illinois using your NetID and password, you will be able to add several types of information.  See the video below for more details.  Some of the key items you should update are:
    1. A photo in the Profile Photos section
    2. Research interest, Biography, and other information in the Curriculum and research description section.
    3. Publications by clicking the green Add new button
  3. When your changes are finished and saved in Experts, return to your department website profile form and click the save button to import your new information from Experts.

Overriding directory source information

In some cases, the information you want to show on your department website will be different than what is in your campus level profile.  The LAS Framework system allows you to override any field with information specific to your department website.
  1. As before, start by going to your profile page on the department website.  This will typically be found by going to your website and looking in the Directory section for the listing page you are under.  Click your name to view your profile page.  
  2. Along the right side of the page, you will see a photo and possibly your contact information.  
  3. Click the Edit Your Profile button directly beneath this information.
  4. You will now be on the Profile Editing screen on your website.
  5. Below the yellow box describing your Directory source you will see a button titled Show All Override Fields.  Clicking this button will expose a number of fields that correspond to the fields shown on your profile page.
  6. Enter the new information you want to show on your department profile only in the fields you want to override.  All other information from your directory source will remain the same.
  7. When finished, click the save changes button to see your new overrides.
  8. Clicking the Edit Your Profile button again will show you the values you used for overrides.  You may remove the overrides by clearing the fields and clicking Save again.
