Regulated Research, Connecting to the Enclave for the First Time
NOTE: Access to Microsoft 365 GCC High requires direct connection to the University network. Off-campus users will need to connect to the University VPN via a TunnelAll profile for access.

Note: Cisco Secure Client was previously known as Cisco AnyConnect. Documents with the AnyConnect name instead of Secure Client may be out of date.
Microsoft Authenticator can be found at: Microsoft Authenticator
- Activate the Cisco VPN (vpn.illinois.edu) and select '2 Tunnel All'
- Once you are registered and have a user name and temporary password, go to: portal.office365.us
- Enter your credentials, Authenticator will prompt for confirmation.
- You will be prompted to create a new password.
Detailed Start
1. Activate the Cisco VPN (see the linked guides for details) and set Cisco to '2 Tunnel All' (On-campus users can skip this step)

2. Navigate your browser to portal.office365.us. You will be presented with a standard Microsoft login screen. If this is your first time logging in, use the credentials provided to you in PEAR.

3. If you have not previously set up a Microsoft Authenticator, you will see the following, press Next. Then, follow the on-screen instructions to add your Regulated Account to Microsoft Authenticator.:

4. After your initial login and establishment of Microsoft Authenticator, you will be prompted to create a new password. Please use a unique password. As with all University authentication credentials, please refrain from sharing these with others. Passwords must comply with the University requirements found here: Identity Management, Requirements for Acceptable Passwords
5. You will be prompted to login again using the new credentials. Repeat the previous process.
6. If everything has been done correctly, you will see the following page:

To access Office Apps in the Browser:
- From the page above, press the Apps Key in the bottom left corner
- From here, you should be able to select your desired app to open.
