Skype for Business, Recording Calls from an Off-Campus Number
You cannot record a normal off campus call. To record a call with a number that is not on Skype for Business you must do so in a Skype for Business meeting. The easiest way to do this is the Meet Now option.
How can I record a call from off campus? My recording button is grayed out for off campus calls.
On the Windows Skype for Business client go to the drop down menu next to the gear icon and select show menu bar. A menu bar will appear at the top of the screen and you will be able to select meet now. A new window for the meeting should appear. In that window you will be able to call out to other customers to have them join the meeting.
Go to the icon that looks like two people with a drop down arrow next to them. Click on it and in the drop down that opens, select invite by person or number. Another new window will open and allow you to type the number you wish to call into it. After you type in the number go to the number in the list below and select call on the number you wish to contact. That will join the person to the call.
Now that they are in the call inform them that you are going to start a recording and go to the two arrows pointing to the side, next to the paperclip at the top of the meeting window. Click on those arrows and a new drop down menu will open with a option to select to record the call.
Click on it and the call will start recording. Everyone in the conference will hear a verbal notification that the call is being recorded. Whenever the recording is stopped, either by the call ending or selecting the stop button at the end of the call a window will open to allow the file path where the recording is going to be saved to be selected.
