ClassTech, Wireless Presentation, Connecting Through a Web Browser

Instructions to connect your device to the classroom Wireless Presentation option through a web browser. You can also connect through a web browser if AirPlay isn't working correctly, such as if it is missing from the AirPlay devices list or if your connection is dropped.

Disclaimer

These instructions do not work if you are using an iPad/iPhone. macOS devices should still work when not using Safari.

Audio sharing will only work with a Chromium-based web browser, such as Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge. You can share your screen with Mozilla Firefox, but audio sharing will not work. Apple Safari will be missing the web browser sharing option entirely.

Joining Wireless Presentation Using Your Web Browser

macOS

  1. Open your web browser and enter the IP address of the wireless presentation device into the URL bar of your web browser. You can find the IP address for the wireless presentation device in your classroom on the connection splash screen.

  2. You may encounter a security warning when connecting directly to a wireless presentation device like this. You can safely skip past this warning.

  3. Click Join through Browser.

  4. Enter a username into the User name field. This can be anything, but will show up as a display name once you are connected. Once you enter a username, click the Join button. If your web browser asks for permission to send you notifications, click Allow.

  5. A code should pop up on the wireless presentation device in the classroom. Enter that code into the Room Code field. macOS should also ask you if it can find devices on your local network. Click Allow. Then, click Join.

  6. Once you have joined the room, you will need to click Share to begin sharing your screen.

  7. If this is your first time connecting, your web browser will let you know that it doesn't have permission to share your screen. Click Open System Settings to change this. If you do not see this popup, skip to step 10.

  8. Toggle the slider next to your web browser from OFF to ON.

  9. macOS should ask you if you'd like to allow your web browser to bypass the system private window picker. Click Allow to grant this permission. Your web browser may also warn you that you need to restart it before this permission will take effect. Click Quit & Reopen to restart your web browser. When your browser restarts, follow steps 1-6 again to reconnect.

  10. Choose the Entire screen option to share your entire screen. If you want to share audio too, switch the Also share system audio switch from OFF to ON. Then click Share.

  11. Your web browser may ask you if it can share your system audio. Click Allow to grant this permission. Once allowed, your screen and audio should be shared in the classroom!

  12. When you are done, please make sure to click STOP to stop sharing your screen.

Windows

  1. Open your web browser and enter the IP address of the wireless presentation device into the URL bar of your web browser.

  3. Click Join through Browser.

  6. Once you have joined the room, you will need to click Share to begin sharing your screen.

  7. The website should ask you which screen or window you would like to share. To share your entire screen, choose Entire Screen. To make sure audio is shared, enable the Also share system audio toggle switch. Then click Share.

  8. Once you are done sharing, make sure you press Stop to stop sharing your screen and leave the wireless presentation device available for the next person to use.
