Illinois Compass 2g, Adding Tool Links to Spaces
The default tools available to students in an Illinois Compass 2g Space are the Announcements tool and the My Grades Tool. If the default tool links are not present then an instructor will need to re-add them. Additionally, if an Instructor sets up another tool for use, such as a Journal or Discussion Board, they need to make those tools available for students to access these activities. This article will demonstrate how to add Journals, My Grades, and Announcements to the Course Menu for student Access.

This solution may be used to create any course tool link found in the Course Menu. Enter an appropriate name for the link, and select the appropriate type of link from the "Type" drop down menu. To begin, ensure that Edit mode is toggled on in the upper right corner, then access the plus sign from the top left of the course menu:
Create Journals Link:
1. Select Journals from the Drop-down menu
2. Type Journals from the Type Dropdown menu
3. Tick the check box labeled Available to Users
4. Click submit
Create Announcements Link:
1. Type Announcements in the Name text box
2. Select Announcements from the Type Dropdown menu
3. Tick the check box labeled Available to Users
4. Click Submit
Create My Grades Link:
1. Type My Grades in the Name text box
2. Select My Grades from the Type dropdown menu
3. Tick the check box labeled Available to Users
4. Click Submit
