Webstore, ESRI ArcGIS Desktop won't start

One reason why ESRI ArcGIS Desktop software might not start is a corrupted license file.

Uninstalling and reinstalling the software will not necessarily correct the problem.

The corrupted license may still be embedded on your computer, you will need to remove the corrupted license before reauthorizing the license with the license file from your WebStore order history. Follow the steps below to remove the corrupted ArcGIS license on your computer, which is located in the FlexNet folder. The FlexNet folder is a storage folder that consists of authorized ArcGIS licenses on your computer.

1. In Windows, go to Start > Control Panel > Folder Options.
2. Click the View Tab.
3. Select the option to 'Show hidden files, folders and drives', and click OK.
4. Go to C drive > Program data > right-click on "FLEXnet' folder.
5. Rename the 'FLEXnet' to 'FLEXnet_old.

Once the FlexNet folder has been renamed, it will remove all corrupted ArcGIS licenses on your computer, and a new FlexNet folder will be created again in the exact same file location when the license is reauthorized.
Follow the authorization steps from the ArcGIS Installation Instructions included with your WebStore order.
