Microsoft 365 Sharing Links
The policy regarding sharing links for documents will be updated to enhance the security of the Microsoft 365 environment

What is happening?
For files stored in SharePoint Online and OneDrive for Business, we will be changing the default sharing links and adding expirations to "anyone" links.
What does it mean?
Links for sharing files and folders will now default to "People in University of Illinois - Urbana with the link" instead of "Anyone with the link." The default action for sharing links will be "Can view" instead of "Can edit." Those other options will remain available to users, but by changing the default settings we will limit the amount of inadvertent file sharing.
Lastly, the "Anyone with the link" links will now have an expiration policy of 90 days. After 90 days, the links would need to be recreated by the file owner and redistributed.
