Personal Devices, Operating System Re-Image/Reinstallation

This guide provides instructions for reinstalling or resetting operating systems across different device types, including macOS, Windows, iOS, iPadOS, and Android, with links to manufacturer support documentation.

Windows 10/11

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Select Update & Security.
  3. Click Recovery.
  4. Under "Reset this PC," click Get Started.

Android

Due to manufacturer variations, reset steps differ between Android devices. Generally:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Look for "Reset" or "Factory Reset" options.
  3. Choose the option to reset to factory defaults.

macOS

  1. Access macOS Utilities recovery boot:
    • For older devices: Press and hold Command + R during startup.
    • For newer devices: Press and hold the Power button during startup.
  2. Follow the on-screen prompts to reinstall macOS.

iOS/iPadOS

Using a Computer

  1. Connect your device to a computer.
  2. Use Finder to complete the reset process.

Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings using a computer.

Using Device Settings

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap General.
  3. Select Transfer or Reset.
  4. Choose Erase All Content and Settings.
Note: The basic Reset option only restores default settings. For security purposes, use Erase All Content and Settings.
