How to manually configure Apple Mail via EWS.

Versions of Apple Mail

These instructions are for Apple Mail on Snow Leopard or later version of Mac OS. 

Any version of Apple Mail (including those earlier than Snow Leopard) can use IMAP to read email from UC Exchange, but will experience the limitations noted on the IMAP instruction page.

Getting started with a new mail account:

  1. Launch Mail (the postage stamp icon in the dock).
  2. Under the Mail menu, choose Preferences.
  3. Click Accounts.
  4. Select Exchange or Click the Plus (+) icon in the lower-left corner of the Preferences window.
  5. In the Add Account window, enter:
    • Full name: Your name as you want it to be displayed
    • Email address:
    • Password: Your Active Directory password
    • Click Continue.
    • This may produce an error and you will be prompted for more information. If so enter '' in the internal URL field
  6. Mail should be able to automatically detect your account, providing an account summary indicating:
    • Account type: Exchange
    • Full name: Your name
    • Email address:
  7. Click Create.
Getting started with removing an old mail account:
  1. Launch Mail (the postage stamp icon in the dock).
  2. In Mail menu, select Preferences....
  3. Click Accounts, and then highlight the account you want to delete.
  4. Click - (the minus sign).
  5. When prompted, click Remove or OK, and then close the Mail preferences window.
