How to manually configure the Microsoft Remote Desktop app on Mac OS X to use the RDP Gateway

After launching the Microsoft Remote Desktop app, perform the following:

   1. select the Preferences icon in the main RDP Window  

 Step 1

   2. select the Gateway tab in the upper left corner

   3. select the plus icon in the lower left corner

   4. Enter the following information:
Gateway name:  U of I RDP Gateway
User name:  UOFI\Your_NetID
Password:  Your_NetID_Password

   5. Close window (changes are saved automatically) and return to main Microsoft Remote Desktop application window

 Step 2-4

   Adding the RDP Gateway to existing “My Desktops” connections in Microsoft Remote

  1. Select the connection under “My Desktops” you wish to use the Gateway
  2. Select the Edit icon

  3. Select the Gateway Drop-down menu, change to “U of I RDP Gateway" and close the window (changes are saved automatically
  4. Repeat for any other connections you wish to use the campus RDP Gateway to access
Step 3

   NOTE: If you do not like Microsoft Remote running in a separate Space (virtual display), merely setting the "Full screen mode" to “Custom” will prevent this behavior and run it as a traditional application
