Help Desk, CITL Process for Non-Degree Student Registration
The Center for Innovation in Teaching & Learning (CITL) allows students to enroll in non-degree online classes. When students apply for non-degree enrollment, CITL follows an admissions and enrollment process before allowing non-degree students to join classes at the University of Illinois.
Enrollment
All non-degree seeking students should register for courses through the Center for Innovation in Teaching and Learning (CITL).
- CITL's course offerings can be found here: Online Course Offerings.
- Review the registration policies for non-degree students.
- Students must regsiter through the Non-Degree Registration Portal.
Account Setup
After enrolling in a non-degree program, CITL sends each student a Confirmation of Enrollment email message. This message will be sent to the email address the student provided during registration. This Confirmaiton of Enrollment letter will include their University Identification Number (UIN), NetID activation token, and instructions for claiming their NetID.
Instructions for the NetID claim website can be found here: NetID Claim, How to Claim for Students.
Note: Students returning to Illinois will already have a NetID. The NetID claim process may still need to be completed to reactivate their account.
Once CITL receives the registration request, they must obtain approval from the department before they can admit and enroll the student.
- Be advised this can take some time depending on how quickly the department responds.
- This delay is a common reason why they have not heard back from CITL. It usually means their enrollment status is currently "Pending".
- Once approval is received from the department, the student is admitted by CITL and enrolled in their classes for the current term.
