Client Services Support, AITS VPN Connection (Windows)

If you have been granted access to the AITS VPN, these instructions will allow you to set up the VPN connection on a non-university owned device. (This article is intended for employees supported by Client Services Support)
  1. Press the Windows Start button in the lower left corner of your primary monitor
  2. Select Settings

3.  Choose Network and Internet

4. Select VPN from the list on the left
Fifth item down on the left navigation is VPN, this is highlighted in red
 
5. Click the plus sign next to Add a VPN Connection

6. Fill out the VPN configuration fields
Urbana:
a. VPN Provider: Windows (built-in)
b. Connection Name: AITS Urbana VPN
c. Server name or address: aitsras1.aits.uillinois.edu
d. VPN type: IKEv2
e. Type of sign-in info: User name and password
f. User name: Leave Blank
g. Password: Leave Blank
Chicago
a. VPN Provider: Windows (built-in)
b. Connection Name: AITS Chicago VPN
c. Server name or address: aitsras2.aits.uillinois.edu 
d. VPN type: IKEv2
e. Type of sign-in info: User name and password
f. User name: Leave Blank
g. Password: Leave Blank
VPN configuration fileds, filled in as listed above
7. Click Save
8. Select the link on the right of the VPN Configuration page to Change adapter options
9 Right Click on the VPN Connection that you just created (AITS Chicago VPN or AITS Urbana VPN). Select Properties from the context Menu

10. Select the Networking tab at the top of the properties window
11. Choose the Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and click on Properties again.

12.  Do not change settings in the opened window and press Advanced...

13.  Check the box next to Use default gateway on remote network

14.  Click OK
Note: You may have to restart your computer after making this change
15. Exit the settings menu. 
16. Select the Wi-Fi Symbol from your tool-tray
17. Make sure you’re connected to your home Wi-Fi
18. After you’re connected to Wi-Fi, select the AITS Urbana VPN or AITS Chicago VPN connection from the list
19. You’ll be prompted to log in – use your NetID and AD password
