EWS Labs, Printing, EWS PaperCut FAQ

FAQ regarding PaperCut usage for EWS

What is PaperCut?

PaperCut is the back-end system that manages print requests and charges for printing in EWS labs (and elsewhere on campus). EWS Lab computers run the PaperCut client, which is normally invisible, operating seamlessly and automatically in the background.

How do I use PaperCut in EWS Labs?

No special steps are required. As long as you're logged into an EWS lab computer, just print as usual. The cost of your job will be deducted from your PaperCut Paid Credits balance (formerly Illini Cash). If you have insufficient funds, you should receive an error window stating the issue.

How do I print from my personal device (Web Print)?

  1. Log in to the PaperCut Web Portal: https://papercut.ics.illinois.edu/
  2. Click "Web Print"
  3. Click "Submit A Job"
  4. Select a printer
  5. Select the appropriate options and upload your document(s).

For more detailed instructions, see EWS Labs, Printing, Printing to an EWS printer with your own computer (webprint).

How do I check my balance, and how do I add to my printing balance?

  1. Log in to the PaperCut Web Portal: https://papercut.ics.illinois.edu/
  2. Click "Add Paid Credits"
  3. Choose an amount and complete payment via Authorize.net

Note: Illini Cash is no longer used for EWS printing.

What is the refund policy, and how do I request a refund?

Refund policy for EWS printing and a guide to how to request refunds can be found here: EWS Labs, Printing and refund policies
