[2FA] Can I use a Chinese (Country Code +86) phone number with Duo?
Phone numbers with a +86 country code can no longer be used with Duo 2FA
Effective April 12, 2019, due to recent telephony restrictions by the Chinese government, Duo (the 2FA vendor used by the University of Illinois) is no longer able to deliver automated phone calls for authentication to users with +86 (calling country code) phone numbers. No other authentication methods (SMS/Text, Push, and token) are impacted.
What should I do:
The University recommends using the free Duo Mobile App and Push technology (https://answers.uillinois.edu/systemoffices/internal/page.php?id=67790) or purchasing a University hardware token (https://webstore.illinois.edu/shop/search.aspx?keyword=2FA).
