Digital Signage, Troubleshooting

This document contains some of the issues or workarounds for Korbyt.

Unable to Log into Korbyt AnyWhere

Problem: When trying to use the Azure AD login method to Korbyt AnyWhere, the page keeps returning to the login screen.
Issue: The most likely scenario is the user has not been added into the proper security groups.
Resolution: The primary digital signage contact for the department should email the service team at digitalsignage@illinois.edu and a ticket will be created to address the issue.

After Publishing a Layout or Adding new Media, the Changes do not Immediately Appear

Problem: After loading new files in the Media Manager or changing and publishing a Layout, the changes do not appear on a player display.
Issue: Rather than directly receiving deployment files via "push", signs now look for changes on a set interval, or "pull".
Resolution: After the next player check-in the changes should appear.

Illini Alerts are not Appearing on the Digital Sign

Problem: The digital sign did not display the most recent Illini Alert .
Issue: There are multiple issues that could cause Illini Alert to fail to display on a digital sign:
1. Each player has to be individually configured to receive emergency messaging.
2. The emergency alert subscription is failing to properly poll for a channel activation.

Korbyt Windows Player software fails to start after login with different account

Problem:  The signage player software no longer launches after a different account is used to log into Windows on the device

Issue:  The player needs to be able to modify settings and log files contained within the folder "C:\ProgramData\korbyt", and the logged-in account may not have sufficient permissions.

Resolution: Grant the login account "Full Control" over all files and subfolders inside "C:\ProgramData\korbyt"

Time displayed on sign layout is incorrect after daylight savings change

Problem:  After daylight savings time started or ended, the time on the clock is an hour ahead or behind.

IssueWhen a defined time zone is set with either the Clock or Text "Insert Time" option, it uses a fixed offset value that does not adjust based on daylight savings time.

Resolution:  Display time using Text Element with the "Local Time Zone" so it will follow the timezone set on the player device and update at the appropriate time. To get the same format as the Clock element ( like "8:45 AM" ) the custom format "LT" can be entered.

Settings to insert time using Text Element

Other custom formats can be set using Moment.js formatting strings: https://momentjs.com/docs/#/displaying/
