TDX, Getting Started With Your TDX Asset Management Application

Recommended steps, and recommended order of those steps, for deploying the TDX Asset module. Separate documentation exists with recommended conventions and best practices for naming conventions and settings.
  1. Create security Roles in TDX

  2. Send Tech Access request to TDX Global Admin

  3. Create Product Types

    1. (if applicable) sub-level Types can be created and assigned under a Parent Type

  4. Import Vendors

    1. (if applicable) Additional Vendor attributes would be created before Importing Vendors

  5. Import Product Models

    1. (optional) Additional Product Model attributes would be created before Importing Model

  6. Create Contracts (i.e. Warranty Types)

    1. Create Contract Attributes (if applicable)

  7. Create/Edit Status Types (if applicable)

  8. Create Custom Asset Attributes

    1. Add campus recommended fields (IP Address, Mac Address, etc.)

    2. Create Unit specific custom fields (unit_prefix_code-custom_field, ex. CVM-Loaner)

    3. Import or add Data for custom Asset Attribute choices

  9. Create Asset Forms

    1. Configure Asset form Settings

  10. Import Assets (in terms of sharing to units new to Asset mgmt., the legacy mapping text would not apply)

    1. Create mapping from legacy to TDX for location

    2. Create mapping from legacy to TDX for room

    3. Create mapping from legacy to TDX for Custodians (Users, Technicians, etc.)

      1. Determine how to handle Clients not in directory

    4. Create mapping as necessary for additional legacy data

    5. Cleanse source data

    6. Import cleansed and mapped data

      1. Import History via Notes field in Import tool

      2. Bulk import warranty data (If available. Would be included in data import if provided by a third-party tool like Lansweeper)

  11. Create Reports

    1. (Optional) Setup loaner process reports (this step or steps would be specific to a unit’s business needs, not necessarily applicable to all)

  12. Setup Desktop for your Asset Application

  13. Setup Webhooks for other data export or other automation (if applicable)

  14. Setup API for other Data Import/Export or other automation (if applicable)
