Printers, Setting Accounting Codes on a Mac

Certain printers and copiers, such as the newly installed Konica Minolta on the 4th Floor of BIF, may require authentication before you are able to successfully print to them. Following the steps in this article will allow you to setup "Account Track" with your assigned Accounting Code when printing from your Mac. If you are unsure of your assigned Accounting Code please email helpdesk@business.illinois.edu, call 217-244-0812, or visit 3044 BIF during normal business hours.

With a program open that you will be printing from select the "Print" option or the printer icon, ex. Microsoft Word

Once the "Print" window appears scroll down until "Printer Options" can be seen at the bottom

Select "Printer Options" and locate "Output Method" then select the Information Symbol to far right

In the new window, check the "Account Track" option

Inside of the Account Track window, leave the "Department Name" blank.

Enter your assigned Accounting Code in the Password field. Also, make sure to check the "Save Settings" option.

Choose "OK" when complete.

Enter Accounting Code in Password field and click Save Settings box, then click OK.

With your assigned Accounting Code entered and saved, navigate to the top of the "Print" window

Select the "Presets" drop-down menu

In the drop-down menu select "Save Current Settings as Preset..."

Name this Preset so it is easily identifiable as your Accounting Code setup, ex. "4thfloor-KM"

Save this Printing Preset with a memorable name.

Note: When printing to a printer/copier in the future that requires your Accounting Code, such as the 4th Floor Konica Minolta, make sure your saved Preset is selected in the "Presets" option.
