ClassTech, Where to get Adapters & Other Classroom Peripherals
Problem:
An instructor doesn't have the appropriate adapter to connect to the system in their classroom, or is looking for another peripheral piece of A/V equipment such as a video conferencing camera, VCR, laser pointer, or presentation remote (to advance PowerPoint slides).
Classroom Technologies does not loan adapters, presentation remotes, or other equipment.
Solution:
The Media Commons in 306 Main Library does have adapters, cables, VCRs, and other loanable technology available for checkout. You can offer to transfer the instructor to the Media Commons if they have questions about this process. Their phone number is 217-333-2290.
The Media Commons also has a VHS to DVD converter available for checkout in their Loanable Technology. An instructor who wants to convert their media to DVD (rather than renting a VCR) will need the original VHS tape and have a blank DVD for conversion. Note: The process is 1 to 1, meaning if it's a 2 hour video, it will take 2 hours to convert.
Loanable Technology equipment can be reserved via the Media Commons website at https://www.library.illinois.edu/sc/loanable-technology/ and can be picked up at the Media Commons tech desk (Main Library 306).
Further information on what specific pieces of equipment are available can also be found on the Media Commons website at https://www.library.illinois.edu/sc/loanable-technology/
