U of I Box, Upload and Download Limits

Is there a limit on file uploading and downloading in U of I Box?

Individual File Size Limit

U of I Box limits files sizes to a maximum of 150GB per file.  This setting cannot be increased.

Shared Link Bandwidth Limit

Box measures bandwidth usage on downloads from open access shared links and has a limit of 2TB per user per month.  This limit is reset on the first day of each month.

When the limit is reached, shared link recipients will not be able to complete the download.
There is no impact on the content owner and they can continue to work with their files on Box.

The following downloads do not count towards an account's bandwidth limit:
  • Downloads from within an account by the content owner
  • Downloads by collaborators while logged in to their account

Upload Rate Limit

Box limits uploads to four files per second per user.  Please consider this when uploading large quantities of small files.  This limit applies to all interfaces, including Box Web, Sync, API, etc.
