Illinois ChatGPT EDU Setup - Migration from ChatGPT Team/Business

The steps below outline the process for setting up your Illinois ChatGPT EDU account, including migrating from a ChatGPT Team/Business workspace.

Important Notes

Chat history and custom GPTs cannot be automatically migrated; you must export or copy them manually (see Step 10)
You will be able to toggle between your Team/Business workspace and the Illinois ChatGPT (EDU) workspace (see Steps 4 and 12), giving you time to save or move over what you need.

Instructions

Receive an email to ChatGPT EDU. Select Join workspace.
Select the Log in button.
Enter your university email address in the Email address field and select the Continue button.
Select the SSO sign-in option (University of Illinois button). (Note that selecting the Continue with password option will log you into your Team workspace.)
Select the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign option and click the Select button.
Pick the associated university email account.
Enter your password and select the Sign in button.
Select the Continue button to verify your identity with two-factor authentication (2FA).
In the pop-up (ChatGPT, Tips for getting started), select the Okay, let's go button.
In the You've been added to an Illinois ChatGPT EDU workspace prompt, select the Transfer existing chat history and GPTs option, then select the Continue button. (Note: Although there are two options, the option to export and delete your existing chat history will remove your existing chats. To migrate chat history, you will have to manually copy and paste each chat into another document (Word, Google Docs, etc.). If you use the Google Chrome browser, you can speed up the process with the ExportGPT Chrome Extension. For instructions on manually migrating GPTs, see Moving Custom GPTs.)
In the Are you sure? pop-up, select the Export and delete workspace button.
Once you can access your University of Illinois ChatGPT Education - Illinois Campus workspace, expand the diamond icon menu (bottom-left corner of page) and verify that University of Illinois ChatGPT Education option is selected. (A checkmark will appear next to the selected option. You can also toggle between your Team and University of Illinois (EDU) accounts.) Note: Your membership in your Team/Business account will remain until the account owner removes you. This removal will occur a week after your migration. This gives you time to manually move your custom GPTs.
You should now see and have access to your ChatGPT Edu workspace. You can begin using it by adding a prompt to the What can I help with? field. Enjoy!
If you receive a Welcome to ChatGPT Enterprise! email from OpenAI, this is expected.
