Canvas, Creating a registrar-affiliated course copy

This page has tips for creating a registrar-affiliated course space in Canvas

In order to copy a previous Canvas course into a Fall 2021 Canvas course you will need to request a blank Registrar-Affiliated Canvas shell via the Space Request Application: http://go.illinois.edu/sra. Remember to type "Canvas" in the Special Instructions box before completion of the form.

Once the blank Canvas shell is made, you will navigate to the course and click Import Existing Content on the right. Then, from the drop down, select Copy a Canvas Course. Next, select the course you want to copy. Proceed to select the relevant options, then click Import.

This may take a few minutes depending on the size of your course.

Note: Student rosters will begin to load for the first time the Thursday before classes begin.

You must Publish your course in order for students to have access to it. Learn how to publish your course at this Canvas page.
