Canvas@Illinois , How Students Can Download Their Files
This article explains how a student can download their files from Canvas to their personal computer.
Sometimes, a student wants to download the content they submitted to a Canvas course or courses; this process can be done by downloading multiple files at once, or by downloading select files from specific courses. We recommend students download their files from Canvas prior to graduating, if they want to ensure access to the content. The instructions below explain the process of downloading a file or files from Canvas to your personal computer:
How to Download Multiple Files at Once
- Log into Canvas at canvas.illinois.edu.
- Click on your Account (found below your profile icon on the Dashboard).
- Select the Files link.
- Once you have located the files you wish to download, click Control + A to select all of them.
- Five options will pop up above the Files window; click on "Download as Zip."
- A progress bar will appear at the top of the page to let you know the download status.
- Once the download is complete, you can locate the .zip folder on your computer to access the files.
How to Download Files from a Specific Course
- Log into Canvas at canvas.illinois.edu.
- Click on your Account (found below your profile icon on the Dashboard).
- Select the Files link.
- Click on the Submissions folder under the My Files section.
- From within the Submissions folder, you will see folders for each course; click on the course you wish to download your files from.
- Select the file or files you wish to download. Click Control + A to select multiple files.
- Five options will appear above the Files window; select "Download as Zip."
- A progress bar will appear at the top of the page to let you know the download status.
- Once the download is complete, you can locate the .zip folder on your computer to access the files.
