SCS Computing Maintenance Windows
Routine Maintenance Window:
Risk: Low, but non-zero
Expected disruption:Outages to individual services should last 15 minutes or less
Announcement: At least 24 hours before outage, sent to scs-it-announce@lists.illinois.edu
- Standard Routine Maintenance Window: Weekdays, 9pm - 11pm (Updated: 9/23/2021)
Major Maintenance:
Risk: Low to medium
Expected disruption: Outages of individual services will be 15 minutes to several hours
Announcement: 4 to 14 days before the maintenance occurs, with all attempts made to give as much notice as possible, sent to scs-it-announce@lists.illinois.edu
- Standard Major Maintenance Window: Second (2nd) weekend of every month, from 8am - noon on Saturday and/or Sunday.
- Alternate Major Maintenance Window: Fourth (4th) weekend of every month, from 8am - noon on Saturday and/or Sunday.
Emergencies:
During an emergency or crisis, SCS Computing may shut down or restart any server, modify hardware, or take other action as required. When emergency action is taken, notice will be sent to all SCS faculty, staff, and graduate students via scs-it-announce@lists.illinois.edu as soon as practical.
**NOTE: These actions are likely to create a notable and potentially prolonged outage of one or more service(s), and may occur without any forward notice.
