VMD
Theoretical and Computational Biophysics Group
VMD is a molecular visualization program for displaying, animating, and analyzing large biomolecular systems using 3-D graphics and built-in scripting.
ChemOffice
ChemOffice is a suite of tools that enable scientists and researchers to effectively capture and share data on compounds, materials, and chemical reactions. ChemOffice contains a number of applications, such as ChemDraw, Chem3D, ChemFinder, and more. For more information on the applications that comprise ChemOffice, see the link above.
- Graduate Students
- If your home academic department is the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering (ChBE) or the Department of Chemistry OR
- If your appointment is with the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering (ChBE) or the Department of Chemistry
- Download ChemOffice from: https://webstore.illinois.edu/shop/product.aspx?zpid=4468 (subsidized by SCS, Chemistry, and ChBE)
- Download ChemOffice from: https://webstore.illinois.edu/shop/product.aspx?zpid=4468 (subsidized by SCS, Chemistry, and ChBE)
- If you work in a ChBE or Chemistry lab but neither 1 or 2 (above) apply to you, ask your PI or group admin staff to contact SCS IT staff (scs-computing@illinois.edu), and we may be able to help.
- For all other (non-SCS) graduate students, faculty or staff, a license may be purchased using a University account number from:
https://webstore.illinois.edu/shop/product.aspx?zpid=4470
- Undergraduates:
- You may purchase a personal use license of ChemOffice from the UI Webstore using a credit card from: https://webstore.illinois.edu/shop/product.aspx?zpid=4469
- NOTE: Undergraduates are NOT eligible for the SCS ChemOffice offer on the WebStore.
- You can use ChemOffice on a University-owned computer where it has already been installed, such as a departmental computer lab or a lab computer in a research group.

ChemDoodle
ChemDoodle has been licensed by Instructional Technology in the Department of Chemistry for use by anyone with a valid @illinois.edu email address.
- Download ChemDoodle
- Request an activation code for ChemDoodle using your @illinois.edu email address
- ChemDoodle User Guide
Mobile Apps
- Mobile Versions of ChemDoodle are available for accessing and creating molecular drawings on both iOS and Android mobile devices.
- ChemDoodle Web Components enable export from ChemDoodle into formats that will work on most smartphones and tablets. It can be used for web-based creation of 2-D molecular drawings or 3-D modeling.
