SCS DISPOSAL PROCESS FOR IT EQUIPMENT FOR LABS

How to dispose of "IT Equipment" for SCS / ChBE / Chemistry research labs

Disposal of IT-related items that have storage:

SCS Computing staff need to "wipe" any items that contain a storage device.  These include:

  • Desktops
  • Laptops
  • All-in-Ones (computer is built into the monitor)
  • iPads
  • Tablets
  • Servers

The lab will contact scs-computing@illinois.edu to dispose of equipment with data storage (desktops, laptops, tablets, servers)

  • Let them know what group you are from
  • Arrange a time for your lab to bring the items to the SCS Computing main office, 125A Noyes Lab

If you are unsure, contact scs-computing@illinois.edu and let them know what equipment you have and they will advise you on the next steps.

Disposal of non-storage IT items:

Electronic items that do NOT have any storage include:

  • Photocopiers
  • Scanners
  • Printers
  • Monitors
  • Heavy-duty surge protectors
  • Misc computer accessories, such as keyboards, mouse, and speakers

The lab should contact scs-inventory@illinois.edu to dispose of all other IT equipment

  • Let them know what the items are and where they can be picked up from
