Installation Instructions:

Start Here - For all OS's and situations

  1. Go to the Kyocera Download page at: https://www.kyoceradocumentsolutions.com/download/index_en.html
  2. In the "Enter the Product Name" search box on the page, enter the model number based on the chart above
    • NOTE: You can type 4054 or 5054 and then select the copier from a much shorter list
  3. Download the "KX Printer Driver"
    • NOTE: The "KX v4 Printer Driver" is not recommended
  4. Navigate to the download location and extract the compressed file
  5. Proceed to the section below that fits your OS / need / situation

Windows installation instructions 

Wired network connection in RAL

NOTE: The wired network connection is ONLY for setup.  You'll be able to print from anywhere on campus (wired or wireless) once the copier is installed.

  1. Download the Driver as listed above
  2. Navigate into the extracted folders and run the Setup program
  3. Click OK to close the first two dialogue boxes and select Express Install.
  4. Select the printer you want to install based on the above table. If you do not see your printer, you’ll need to follow the "Alternate" instructions below
  5. Once it installs, the final window has default options such as duplex which you can set by checking or un-checking the boxes
  6. Click Finish when you are done selecting options and the printer is installed.

Alternate - Wired network connections not in RAL or IllinoisNet wireless connections anywhere on campus

  1. Download the Driver as listed above
  2. Navigate into the extracted folders and run the Setup program
  3. Click OK to close the first two dialogue boxes and select Custom Install.
  4. Under the “Drivers” box select the “KX DRIVER for Universal Printing” and the blue arrow to add it to the “Products to Install” box
  5. Click install. When it finishes, click Finish.
  6. Close the installer.
  7. Open the Control Panel and select Devices and Printers
  8. Click Add device.
  9. Windows will display all known printers, each with an "Add device" button.  Scroll down.  immediately below the last "Add device" button, click on Add a new device manually
  10. In the new window, click Add a printer using an IP address
  11. In the drop-down next to "Device type", select TCP/IP device
  12. Type the IP (from the table above) in the "Hostname or IP address" box. The Port name box will auto populate. Click next
  13. In the driver box that pops up, select Kyocera on the left side ("Manufacturer").  In the right side ("Printers"), scroll down to select the appropriate model number (from the chart above) and click Next.
  14. Name the Printer something useful (such as RAL 204 Kyocera) and click Next
  15. Select Do not share this printer and click Next
  16. Print a test page, if you so desire, and then click Finish.

MacOS installation Instructions:

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you previously had one or more ChBE copiers installed and recently upgraded to MacOS 26, remove the ChBE copiers and then follow the steps below

  1. Download the drivers following the above instructions.
  2. double click on the extracted .dmg file.
  3. Run the .pkg file located in the opened Finder window.
  4. Go through the install steps, accepting the license terms and such.
  5. When the installer finishes, close it out. You can delete it if you wish
  6. Open system preferences and click on Printers and Scanners (or similarly named depending on the MacOS versions)
  7. Click on the + to add a new printer or select the Add Printer or scanner button
  8. Click on the IP option at the top to add a printer via IP address. For newer versions it is a globe icon without a label
  9. In the "Address" box, type the printer's IP address (from the box above).
  10. For "Protocol" select Line Printer Daemon - LPD
  11. For "Queue", leave this blank.
  12. For "Name" put something that makes sense, such as ChBE - RAL 112E Kyocera
  13. For "Location", you can enter this or not.
  14. Pick the driver to use - for this step, go to the next section that corresponds to the version of MacOS you're running

MacOS 15.7 and earlier:

  1. For "Use:" the OS will attempt to query the printer and fill something in.
    1. If it doesn't detect the correct printer model (see chart above), you can click on the dropdown for the Use section and Select Software to find the appropriate model.
  2. Click on the Add button
  3. A new window will pop up asking for the features the printer has installed. Select from the table above.
    • NOTE: You will need to select the finisher before you can select things like Punch Unit.
  4. Click OK and the printer will finish being added.

MacOS 26 ("Tahoe")

  1. For "Use:" the OS will attempt to query the printer and fill something in.  DO NOT USE THE DEFAULT DRIVER.
  2. Click on the drop-down next to "Use" and click Select Software... 
  3. Click on the driver titled Kyocera Generic Color A4 PCL
  4. Click on the Add button
  5. A new window will pop up asking for the features the printer has installed. Since this is a "generic" driver, only limited options are available.
    1. Paper Feeders: Select Two
    2. Optional Disk: Select based on the information above.
  6. Click OK and the printer will finish being added.
