Using The Kyocera Copiers in RAL 271, CLSL A114 or CLSL A133 (IMPA Office)
Swipe your i-Card or enter your NetID and password at the login prompt on the device.
This will display any jobs you have awaiting release. To print a job, select it. You can double check the print settings by pressing the arrow next to the job. When ready, press the Print button.
If you have no print jobs or want to make copies after printing, touch the device icon next to the refresh icon below the Log Out button in the upper right to access the device (see image)
Select the CFOP you wish to use or select your Personal Account to use Paid Credits (which must be added to your account ahead of time) then press OK and then Next
NOTE: If you do not see the account you would like to use, see the section below titled "Adding a CFOP to PaperCut" or visit https://answers.uillinois.edu/scs/136868
NOTE 2: If you are scanning, it doesn't matter what CFOP you choose - scanning has no charge associated with it.
Now select the Copy button to make copies or the Send button to scan.
NOTE: If you would like a "scan-to-folder" setup, email scs-computing@illinois.edu and we can set that up for you.
Log out when finished.
To request that a CFOP be added to PaperCut:Â
Faculty and staff in the School of Chemical Sciences (including faculty and affiliates of Chemistry and ChBE) should send an email to scs-computing@illinois.edu with the following information:
CFOP (University account number) - this will be a 19 digit number in the format [1 digit]-[6 digits]-[6 digits]-[6 digits]
A list of NetIDs that should be able to charge copies / prints to that CFOP
If you are a student, ask your PI to contact SCS Computing (scs-computing@illinois.edu) on your behalf with the above information so we know you are permitted access.
Correcting accidental mis-charges
If you accidentally charged a print or copy job sent to an SCS copier to an incorrect account, such as your personal account or to the wrong CFOP, please fill out the form at:
Unpack the "win-XX-production.zip" file (where XX is a version number)
Double-click on the file client-local-install.exe to install the PaperCut Client
Run the PaperCut Client. When it is running, there will be a little green PaperCut icon in the task bar
Install the copiers
Press the "Windows" key on the keyboard to bring up the start menu
In the search box type \\scs-papercut.ad.uillinois.edu and hit Enter.
This should open a File Explorer window showing the available printers. Right click on the one you want (see above list for descriptions) and select Connect This will start the installation of the printer. When it finishes, the selected printer should be available to use on your computer.
Do a test print to make sure it is working and you can select any accounts, if applicable
Open the archive and copy the "PCClient" into the applications directory.
Launch the PCClient under Applications. It most likely won't let it run. Click to close the pop-up window and open System Settings -> Privacy & Security. Scroll down to the Security section. Find the message about PCClient being blocked and click the "run anyway" option.
Log in using your netid and password.
If you want the Papercut Client to launch on login, go to System Settings -> General -> Login Items & Extensions (in Tahoe). Click the + and browse to the Applications folder and add PCClient
NOTE: previous versions of MacOS had login items under the Users and Groups tab of settings
Extract and run the resulting dmg. Install for all users but don't add any specific device at this point. Close the installer when finished.
Go to System Preferences --> Printers and Scanners. Click the Add printer button.
If you do not have the "Advanced" gear in the task list, Control + Click (or right click) on the taskbar and select Customize Toolbar. Drag the gear from the new window into the taskbar in the previous one to add it.
Click on the Advanced gear. Wait while it searches.
Select "Windows printer via spoolss" for the type.
For the URL, type: smb://scs-papercut.ad.uillinois.edu/PRINTERNAMEHERE(See above for printer names. Include all underscores and capitals)
Change the name field to something descriptive for yourself.
Under "Use" choose Driver and select Software. Select the printer's model.
Click to add. Log in using your netID and password when prompted.
Do a test print to make sure it is working.
Printing from any other device (Linux, smartphone, above doesn't work, etc)
If the above instructions don't fit your case, then you'll need to use Webprint to print. While this can accept many file types, we recommend converting to PDF before printing.
In the "Quick Search" text box, select SCS to only show SCS printers
Select the desired printer and click the Print Options and Account Selection >> box
On the next page enter how many copies you want to make and select which account to charge (Personal or a CFOPA) then click Upload Documents
Either drag the file or click Upload from computer and choose the file you want to print. The supported file types are listed below this box
Select Upload & Complete when done
To finish printing, either go to the printer and log in and release the print job or click on Jobs Pending Release on the website you just submitted the job and release the job.
You can log into the device itself to release the document, or use the website on a mobile device.
NOTE: For best document security, it is best to release the document only when you are at the device.
