VTH Board Minutes 2/26/2026

Personnel:

• Katye resigned last week – no notice given – unsure of the situation.

• Diagnostic Imaging – failed search plan to re-open
• ECC
• Dr. Timmons – Starting Feb 2026 (5-year program)
• Dr. Talbot – Starting July 2026
• Dr. Depoix – Starting July 2026
• Food Animal
• Dr. Lewis – Started this week
• Oncology –
• Dr. Beeson – Starting August 2026
• Anesthesia – We have a second application – waiting on committee to reply if the candidate should be invited for an interview. Waiting for a response from the committee if an offer should be made to the candidate that interviewed. We have 2 open faculty slots.
• Neuro – Open search
• Surgery – looking into a search waiver for Sydney Rosen
• MWE – Open position – an intern considering staying – possible non-traditional dentistry residency
• Zoo Amb – possible PhD candidate that would be on clinics 40% of the time.

Facilities:

• Locker room project 
  • Open – completing punch list items
• Equine recovery stalls
  • 2 completed – final stall to be completed this May
• Equine stalls Ward 2

  • No new updates
• Oncology – change order approved estimated completion pending lead time for new fire dampers
  • Lockers from 1^st floor to be moved to basement – already communicated with ECC
  • New doors into MRO ward & Blood back to be created
• Ortho/Rehab Remodel 
  • Drawings received – plan to move to pricing
• Cube
  • On schedule to be completed April/May 2026
• AHU-S1 Replacement 
  • No new updates
• Bulk oxygen replacement
  • Tank is from the 70s, entire system needs to be replaced.  Big expense so it will likely be split between this year and next year with each being ~$100K.  I plan to ask the college for some funding as it is used throughout the VTH and Junior surgery uses significant O2 when they are in surgery. 

Budget

Majority of services have returned budget workbooks.  Meetings are scheduled and start in the next few weeks.

Reduced Service

Proposal:

• Research Day: ER only until 12 noon (appointments start at 1pm)
• Commencement: Normal schedule
• Educational/Departmental Retreats: ER only until 12 noon (appointments start at 1pm) – limit to 1 annually (but until COE 2 annually)
• Fall Conference: Normal schedule – but try to excuse students, when possible, to attend
• Holiday gift days – Open normal hours? 

Research within the VTH

Should we require MOU for all research that will utilize VTH resources?

Only one volunteer to serve on transfer working group. Need volunteers.

On hold for student release – AI committee to present at next faculty meeting per Dean Constable

Juneteenth – Friday, June 19^th

July 4^th – Holiday observed, Friday, July 3^rd – Employees that work non-traditional schedules will get holiday pay & 1.5 time on the actual calendar holiday (Saturday, July 4^th)
