Printable PDF: ID Badge Policy
Policy
All personnel in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH) are expected to wear identification badges. The wearing of ID badges has many benefits including allowing for immediate name and face recognition which facilitates communication with clients as well as with our own personnel (students, staff, faculty). ID badges also allow for the identification of non-authorized persons in the VTH, which is important for formal surveillance and security.
Guidelines
Badge pictures are taken by the Design Group, located in Room 2873 of the Basic Sciences Building. The ID badge will be provided at no charge to the badge-holder.
The identification badge will be worn, when practical, by all College of Veterinary Medicine employees and students when in the VTH. An exception to this policy will apply to situations when wearing a badge represents a safety or biosecurity hazard to the badge-holder or animals. When wearing an identification badge is inherently not practical due to the work environment, clothing identifying the individual’s affiliation to the College of Veterinary Medicine is encouraged.
Visitor badges will be issued to all VTH visitors in the building for official business pursuant to VTH Policy #Sec1201. Visitors that will be escorted at all times by VTH personnel (i.e. invited lecturers, meeting attendees, etc.) do not need to register as a visitor or wear a visitor badge. Clients of the VTH do not need to wear identification badges and their access is limited to public common areas (i.e. VTH waiting rooms, exam rooms, restrooms, etc.) unless escorted by authorized VTH personnel. Visiting clinicians will be provided Visitor Clinician badges by the VTH Office to be worn while in the VTH performing locum duties.
Any person in the VTH that is not identified in the above manner is subject to investigation.
If a suspicious person is encountered in the VTH, notify the VTH Office or call (217) 333-9911
