Policy
Veterinary Technical Staff evaluations are to be conducted by the direct supervisor on a yearly basis. The job description is reviewed and updated at this time. The College of Veterinary Medicine Human Resources will assist in the process.
Guidelines
Employees should be provided a straightforward evaluation that accurately reflects the observations of the reviewer and is supported by the service/section head. The evaluation must be discussed with and approved by the employee’s Service or Section Head before presentation to the employee. Evaluations provide a basis for determining training or development needs for the employee and present the employee an opportunity to improve performance in a fair manner and within a time frame. This requirement applies to both probationary performance evaluations and yearly performance evaluations.
Procedure (if applicable)
University employee performance review guidelines should be adhered to in all cases. After completing the appropriate University performance evaluation form, the evaluator should discuss the completed form with his/her service and section head. The service and section head should sign the evaluation before it is presented to and discussed with the employee.
