Policy
This document outlines the process for training VMSC faculty and staff on pharmacy processes, and applies to all faculty and staff that will have pharmacy permissions in the VMSC. All faculty and staff must be trained prior to having pharmacy permissions and must be retrained yearly by pharmacy staff.
Guidelines
Training must be completed and if procedures are not followed then remedial training will be required. Training completion will be documented yearly. If not completed, pharmacy-related SANDI permissions and Cubex access will be removed until training can be completed.

Pharmacy Training Topics
- Filling medications in the VMSC for inpatient and outpatient
- Controlled substance procedures for inpatient and outpatient
- Inventory management
- Pharmacy processes
- WMC Cubex-approved ambassadors and staff will have WMC-specific training on their Cubex processes.
Pharmacy Training Schedule
- Training for all house officers will occur in August of each year
- Training for all clinicians (non-house officers) will occur in September of each year
- Training for all technicians will occur in October of each year
- If someone needs to remediate their training or misses their group, they can make arrangements to receive training with another group.
Definitions (if applicable)
Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH): The collective clinical services of the Large Animal Clinic, Midwest Equine, the Small Animal Clinic, and the Veterinary Medicine South Clinic.
