CT Examination Scheduling
Last Updated 5/16/2023
Purpose/ Applicability: The purpose of this SOP is to describe how the CT schedule in SANDI is to be utilized.
Scope: This SOP shall be applied to any patient that will be scanned on the Siemens CT scanner.
Definition(s):
- The Siemens CT scanner is the CT scanner located in RB-23
- The GE CT scanner is the CT scanner located in X1-1
Equipment:
- SANDI Scheduler
Procedure:
- The CT Schedule will be available for everyone to view in the SANDI Scheduler under the service titled “Imaging Schedule”. If you format the scheduler by group by “Type”, you will find the CT schedule at the right hand of the column for each date.
- Ordering services must have client’s permission for the CT prior to placing the patient on the schedule.
- Patients that will be under anesthesia must have their anesthesia sheets turned into anesthesia to make sure that the patient’s schedule will work with both the CT and the anesthesia schedules.
- Patients that will only have sedation and not be under anesthesia can not be scheduled until the day of the scan.
- Ordering services can add patients to the CT schedule, just like they would do with other imaging modalities.
- If the ordering service has any questions as to the amount of time they need to schedule for their patient, please call imaging at 217-333-5330.
- Most patients will be scheduled for a 30-minute timeslot.
- Radiation therapy planning patients may be scheduled for 30 or 60 minutes. Check with imaging, as the time slot is case-dependent.
- Scans that require respiratory or cardiac gating must be scheduled for a 60-minute timeslot.
- Patients that are going to be sedated for their scan must be sedated and ready to scan by their appointment time.
- Patients must arrive on time for their designated appointment time. If patients arrive more than 10 minutes late for their appointment time, the patient will have to be rescheduled. This is at the discretion of the imaging tech that is running CT on that day.
- Clinical trial patients can be scheduled prior to the day of the scan but will get bumped if there is a need for an overbook and no other timeslots are available.
